MISSING SAROOP CASE

SECRET  REVEALED OF 267  MISSING  SAROOP  CASE

Amritsar : A former Shiromani Gurdwara Committee official has revealed several big secrets in the 267 missing Saroop case.  Kanwaljit Singh, a former SGPC official, has lodged a written complaint with the police.  He said that on the night of May 18, 2016, a fire broke out in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan, Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib.  He said that he reached the spot as soon as he got the information but before me there were Chief Secretary Harchan Singh, Secretary Roop Singh, Secretary Manjit Singh, Additional Secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhura, Additional Secretary Diljit Singh Bedi, Deputy Secretary Singh, Paramjit Singh.  Singh, personal assistant and manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Partap Singh.  But the lower officials, including me, were not allowed to go to the spot.  After this when we went inside all the images were kept in Rumala Sahib and an attempt was made to prove that there was no damage caused by the fire.
After this the fire was extinguished along with the officials of the Shiromani Committee and the water damaged saroops were taken by bus to Gurdwara Sri Baoli Sahib, Goindwal Sahib.  Manjit Singh Secretary was also with us at that time and led the whole process.  On the instructions of the officers of the committee, no entry of these forms was made in the register at Sri Baoli Sahib and cremation was done.  When I objected to the action being taken against the rules, I was asked to remain silent.  Even after 2016, I was asked to correct the record on the above themes but I was told to wait.  "Orders have been issued to form a sub-committee to probe into the incident but none of my statements were recorded in any of the investigations so as to cover up the truth," he said.  He demanded the police officials to find out about these forms as soon as possible so that no one could misuse them.
It may be mentioned here that in the past it was alleged by the Punjab Human Rights Organization that 267 holy figures have gone missing at Sri Guru Granth Sahib Pawan Ramsar Sahib.  The allegations were leveled by him against the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) while on the other hand, the committee had leveled allegations against Kanwaljit Singh, a former officer in the case, alleging that he had tampered with the allegations.  The Shiromani Committee has already given its clearance on this issue.
